Relationship Therapy for Men

Individual sessions in Bangalore & online, for when your relationship is struggling and you want to work on it, even alone.

This isn't couples therapy. It's space for you.

A lot of men carry relationship problems quietly. You might be going through a breakup you can't shake, a marriage that feels stuck, or the same arguments on repeat. Maybe your partner has said "you need help", or maybe you've just realised you don't want to keep feeling this way.

I'm Aditya Kumar, a counselling psychologist. I work one-on-one with men on what's happening in their relationships: not to take sides or assign blame, but to help you understand your patterns, handle your emotions better, and decide what you want next. Your partner doesn't need to be in the room for things to change.

What we can work on

Breakups & heartbreak

When it's over but your mind isn't. Replaying conversations, checking their profile, feeling like you can't move on or don't know who you are without them.

Marriage under strain

Constant fights, distance, or talk of separation. You want to understand your part and change what you can, even if your partner isn't ready for therapy.

Anger with your partner

Saying things you regret, shutting down, or reacting bigger than the moment. Learning what sits underneath the anger and how to respond instead of react.

Trust, jealousy & insecurity

Overthinking their messages, needing reassurance, or struggling to trust again after being hurt.

Opening up emotionally

Being told you're "emotionally unavailable", or knowing you feel a lot but not being able to put it into words.

Relationship anxiety

Fear of losing them, fear of commitment, or a constant sense that something is about to go wrong.

Pre-marriage pressure

Family expectations, arranged-marriage decisions, or doubts you don't feel allowed to say out loud.

After infidelity

Whether you were cheated on or you were the one who cheated, making sense of what happened and deciding what comes next.

How I work

Sessions are practical and conversational. I won't just nod and ask how that made you feel. Depending on what fits you, I draw on:

  • CBT to catch the thought patterns that fuel overthinking, jealousy, or conflict
  • DBT skills for managing intense emotions like anger or panic in the moment
  • Solution-focused work when you need clarity on a decision
  • Somatic and art-based tools if talking about feelings doesn't come easily

You'll leave with something you can actually use, whether that's a way to pause before an argument escalates, words for what you're feeling, or a clearer sense of what you want.

Why some men prefer a male therapist

Men are often raised to handle things alone, stay calm, and not need anyone. That makes it hard to say "I'm hurting" or "I'm scared I'm the problem."

For some men, talking to another man makes it easier to be honest about anger, vulnerability, sex, or the pressure to be the provider or the strong one. If that's you, you're not alone in feeling that way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this couples therapy?
No. These are individual sessions, just you and me. Your partner doesn't need to attend, know about it, or agree to it. We work on what is in your control: your patterns, your reactions, and how you show up in the relationship.
Can therapy help my relationship if my partner won't come?
Often, yes. Relationships are a system, so when one person changes how they communicate, handle conflict, or regulate their emotions, the dynamic usually shifts too. Individual therapy also helps you get clear on what you actually want from the relationship.
Why would a man prefer a male therapist for relationship issues?
Some men find it easier to talk openly with another man, especially about anger, vulnerability, sex, or the pressure to be the strong one. It isn't necessary for everyone, but if it makes it easier for you to start, that matters.
Do you offer sessions in Bangalore or only online?
Both. I see clients in person in Bangalore and online across India. Online sessions work just as well for relationship concerns, and many people find it easier to open up from their own space.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what you're working through. Some people come for a handful of focused sessions around a breakup or a decision; others prefer longer-term work on patterns that keep repeating. We'll review together as we go.
What does a session cost?
Current fees, including a sliding-scale option for students, are shown on the booking page. See current fees →

Note: If you or your partner are in immediate danger, or there is violence in the relationship, please contact emergency services (112) or Tele-MANAS (14416, free and 24/7). Counselling is not a substitute for crisis support.
