Aditya Kumar, male counselling psychologist in Bangalore

Hi, I'm Aditya, a male counselling psychologist

A lot of men put off therapy for years. Sometimes it's the feeling that you should be able to handle it yourself. Sometimes it's not knowing how to explain what's wrong, or worrying that you'll be judged for it.

I work one-on-one with young adults, many of them men, on anxiety, anger, relationships, self-esteem and the pressure to have it all figured out. Sessions are practical and conversational, and you don't need the right words to start. More about me →

What men come to me for

Anxiety & overthinking

A mind that won't switch off, constant worry about work or the future, or tension you carry in your body without knowing why.

Anger

Snapping at people you care about, holding it in until it explodes, or feeling irritated most of the time.

Relationship problems

Fights on repeat, distance in a marriage, or trust issues. Individual sessions, so your partner doesn't need to come.

Breakups

When it's over but you can't stop replaying it, or you don't know who you are without them.

Low self-esteem

Feeling like you're not enough, comparing yourself to everyone, or being harder on yourself than on anyone else.

Work & provider pressure

Career stress, the weight of being the one everyone depends on, or burnout you keep pushing through.

Feeling stuck

Unsure what you want, questioning your direction, or going through the motions without feeling much.

Opening up emotionally

Knowing you feel a lot but not being able to put it into words, or being told you shut people out.

In person in Bangalore

If you'd rather talk face to face, I see clients in person in Bangalore. Some men find it easier to open up in a room away from home, work and family.

Pick an in-person slot on the booking page, or message me first to check location and timings.

Online across India

Online sessions run on Google Meet, so you can join from Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Pune or anywhere else in India. All you need is a private space and a stable connection.

Living outside India? International online sessions are available too.

Why some men prefer a male therapist

Men are often raised to handle things alone, stay calm, and not need anyone. That makes it hard to say "I'm struggling", especially to a stranger.

For some men, talking to another man makes it easier to be honest about anger, vulnerability, sex, or the pressure to be the provider. You won't have to explain why those things feel heavy. If that's what makes starting therapy feel possible, it's a good enough reason.

How I work

I won't just nod and ask how that made you feel. Depending on what fits you, I draw on:

  • CBT to catch the thought patterns behind overthinking and self-criticism
  • DBT skills for anger, panic and other intense emotions in the moment
  • Solution-focused work when you need clarity on a decision
  • Somatic and art-based tools if talking about feelings doesn't come easily

Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I want a male therapist?
Many men find it easier to open up to another man, especially about anger, sex, feeling like a failure, or the pressure to be the strong one. It isn't necessary for everyone, but if it makes it easier for you to start therapy, that's a good enough reason.
Do you only work with men?
No. I work with young adults of all genders, mostly between 18 and 35. Many men reach out because they're specifically looking for a male psychologist, and this page is for them.
Where are in-person sessions held in Bangalore?
In-person sessions are in Bangalore. Choose an in-person slot when you book, or send me a message first, and I'll share the location and timings.
Is online therapy as effective as meeting in person?
For most concerns, yes. Research generally finds that online talk therapy works about as well as in-person sessions. Many men also find it easier to open up from their own space, and it saves the Bangalore commute.
What's the difference between a psychologist and a psychiatrist?
I'm a counselling psychologist, so our work is talk-based: understanding your patterns and building skills to handle what you're going through. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can prescribe medication. If medication might help, I'll tell you, and you can see one alongside our sessions.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you share stays between us. The only exception is a serious risk to your safety or someone else's, and I'll explain this clearly before we begin.
What does a session cost?
Fees for online and in-person sessions, including a sliding scale for students, are on the booking page. See current fees →

Note: If you're in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact emergency services (112) or Tele-MANAS (14416, free and 24/7). Counselling is not a substitute for crisis support.
